Why a drone

Look closely first. Pay for access only if you need it.

Nobody goes up

No ladders, no scaffold, nobody on a roof that might not be safe to stand on. The drone does the looking from a few metres away.

Know before you pay for access

Scaffolding just to look at a chimney can cost hundreds of pounds a week. Find out first whether anyone needs to go up, and where.

Evidence you can send

Numbered, dated photos a roofer can quote from, a surveyor can refer to and an insurer can see. Forward one link.

OVERVIEW · ALT 30 M

The whole roof from above

First, the overview from about 30 m: every slope, the chimney, the extension and the gutters in one frame. It shows the layout before the close-ups start.

  2. Ridge and hips
  3. The chimney stack

  5. Flat roofs and extensions
  6. Gables, verges and fascias

Drag to compare

What you can see from the pavement, and what you can't.

From the street, a chimney is a small shape at the top of a steep angle. From a few metres away, you can see the lead, the mortar and every slate. Drag the line across.

  1. 1 Lead flashing lifting at the corner of the stack
  2. 2 A crack running across a slate
  3. 3 A slate slipped out of its course
  4. 4 Moss building up near the gutter

Who books a roof check

Nine reasons people want a closer look.

Homeowners after a storm, buyers before they commit, roofers who'd rather quote from the ground. Drag or swipe through the situations.

  • 01HomeownersAfter a storm

Wind lifts tiles and ridge caps. See what's moved before you pay for someone to go up, then send the photos to your roofer or insurer.

Usually booked asOne-off check, small roof

  • 02BuyersBefore you buy

Close photos of the roof of a house you're buying, to share with your surveyor or a roofer. Not a replacement for a survey.

Usually booked asOne-off check, small roof

  • 03RoofersQuoting a job

Price from clear photos instead of climbing up for every enquiry, especially on high, steep or awkward roofs.

Usually booked asPer roof, or invoiced monthly for regular work

  • 04Roofers and buildersBefore and after

Dated photos of the roof before you start and after you finish, for the customer and for your own marketing.

Usually booked asTwo visits, or add to a larger job

  • 05LandlordsAnnual checks

Usually booked asQuarterly or yearly visits

  • 06Property managersBlocks and estates

Every roof on a block or an estate, recorded on a schedule and named by building.

Usually booked asMedium or large, repeat visits

  • 07InsuranceMaking a claim

Usually booked asOne-off check, next-day option

  • 08Solar installersBefore and after install

    Usually booked asPer roof

  • 09Churches and schoolsHigh and fragile roofs

Tall, steep or fragile roofs where scaffolding costs a fortune. Planned with the site and checked for airspace first.

Usually booked asLarge, with a written plan

Ways to look at a roof

Five ways to see a roof. One where nobody leaves the ground.

A drone doesn't replace a roofer going up when work needs doing. It tells you whether they need to, and exactly where.

How it works

From a message to a photo pack in three days.

You deal with me from start to finish. I check the airspace, fly, edit and deliver every roof check myself.

  1. DAY 0

    Send the address

Tell me what's worrying you, or what the photos are for. A photo from the street helps me plan.

  2. DAY 0–1

    Airspace and a time

I check the airspace (some streets near the airports need permission first) and agree a time with you. You confirm I can take off from your drive, garden or a safe spot nearby.

  3. ON THE DAY

    Fly, in under an hour

Overview first, then each slope, the ridge, the chimney, the gutters and any flat roofs. You don't usually need to be in.

  4. +48–72 H

    Numbered pack delivered

Photos numbered and marked on the overview, by download link. Forward it straight to your roofer, surveyor or insurer.

Straight answers

What a roof check is, and isn't.

  • It's a visual record, not a survey. I don't diagnose faults or recommend repairs. That's for a roofer or surveyor.
  • No thermal imaging yet. Heat-loss and damp imaging are on the roadmap.
  • The drone can't lift a tile, look under the felt or test anything. If something needs touching, a roofer has to go up.
  • No flying in rain, strong wind or poor light. If the weather's wrong on the day, the visit moves for free.
  • Some areas, especially near airports, need airspace permission first. I check every address when quoting.
  • The shots are of your roof, not your neighbours. Anything personal that ends up in frame is cropped or blurred.

How every flight is planned

Questions about roof checks

Before you book.

Is this a roof survey?

No. It's a set of close, clear photos for you, a roofer or a surveyor to look at. I don't diagnose faults or recommend repairs.

Will anyone go on the roof?

No. Nobody climbs anything. The drone does the looking from a few metres away.

Do I need to be home?

Usually not, as long as I can take off from your drive, your garden or a safe spot nearby. I'll agree a time with you first.

How close does the drone get?

Close enough to count tiles, usually a few metres away. How close depends on the wind, trees, wires and buildings around the roof.

Can I send the photos to my insurer?

Yes. The photos are dated and numbered, and you can forward the download link. Your insurer or loss adjuster decides what happens next.

What if it's raining or windy?

The visit moves to the next suitable day, at no cost. Photos taken in the wet or in poor light aren't much use anyway.

I live near Teesside or Newcastle airport. Can you still fly?

Often, yes. Parts of both areas sit inside an airport flight restriction zone, where I need the airport's permission first. I check every address when quoting, and permission can add a few days.

Can you check lots of buildings?

Yes. Blocks, estates and portfolios are priced per visit, with savings on repeat checks. Each building's photos are named separately.

Do you do thermal imaging?

Not yet. It's on the roadmap. For now, it's high-resolution photos and video.
