PHOTO 01 · THE FRONT

The front: your first photo

Shot from the pavement corner so buyers see the front and one side, with the walls dead straight. On Rightmove this is usually the photo that gets the click.

  • Cars off the drive
  • Bins out of sight
  • Curtains open, upstairs too

Windows you can actually see out of.

A camera can't get a bright room and a sunny window right in one shot. So each angle is shot three times, dark, middle and bright, and blended into one photo that looks the way your eyes see it.

Before I arrive

Ten minutes of prep, a much better photo.

The 20 minutes that make a house glow.

Editing

I fix the light and the lines. Never the house.

Every photo is edited by hand. Buyers should walk in and recognise the rooms, and agents can't publish photos that mislead, so nothing that's part of the house gets hidden.

ALWAYS

  • Brightness and colour, so white walls look white
  • Windows blended, so you can see out of them
  • Walls and door frames straightened
  • Lens distortion corrected
  • TV screens, family photos and number plates blurred or darkened
  • Small things like a stray cable or a mark on the lens

NEVER

  • Removing anything that's part of the house: cracks, damp, wires, pylons or masts
  • Changing the size or shape of a room
  • Adding furniture or features that aren't there
  • Hiding anything a buyer would want to know about
Packages

Every package includes the photos and the drone.

Prices are for a flat or 1–2 bed home. One-off shoots take a 25% deposit. Selling more than a few a month? See the agent offer.

Questions

Before you book.

How many photos will I get?

Essentials gives 20–25 edited photos, Showcase 30–35 and Signature 35–40, all plus aerial photos. Bigger homes can add 10 extra photos.

How should I get the house ready?

Lights on, curtains open, surfaces cleared, cars off the drive and bins away. I send a short checklist when you book.

How long does it take?

About an hour for Essentials in a typical house, two hours for Showcase and half a day for Signature.

Do I have to be in?

Someone needs to let me in. You can stay, but you don't need to follow me round. Agents usually arrange access with the vendor.

Can you photograph a tenanted property?

Yes. I work around tenants and keep personal photos, post and anything private out of the shots.

What if it's raining?

Interiors can be shot in any weather. If the rain spoils the outside or the aerials, we'll agree what to do before I leave.

Do you edit the photos?

Yes, every one: brightness, colour, straight walls and blended windows. I never remove or hide anything that's part of the house.

What sizes do I get?

Photos sized for Rightmove, Zoopla and OnTheMarket, plus full-size versions for brochures and window cards.
