Planning a one-take FPV house tour

An FPV fly-through is a single continuous flight with no cuts. That means every doorway, turn and height change has to be planned before the drone leaves the ground.

Walking the route

I start on foot, from the front gate to the back garden, with the owner. We agree which rooms to show, which doors stay open, and where people and pets will be.

Rehearsal flights

Next come a few slow practice runs. These are about lines and speed: where to slow down so a room can breathe, and where to speed up so the video keeps moving.

The final take

Most tours take between three and eight attempts to get one that's smooth from start to finish. The best one is graded, set to music and cut into a vertical version for social media.

  • Typical length: 45 to 90 seconds
  • Time on site: about 90 minutes
  • Drone: DJI Avata 2, with guarded propellers for indoor flying
