Why fixed positions make progress footage worth having

Most construction drone footage is flown once, from wherever looked good on the day. It's useful for a newsletter, but it's hard to compare one month with the next.

The same frame, every visit

On a progress contract I fix three to five positions on the first visit: height, heading and camera angle, all logged. Every later visit returns to exactly those points. Lay month 3 next to month 9 and they line up.

  • Position A: the whole site, square on, for the overview
  • Position B: the main elevation, for the frame and cladding
  • Position C: top down, for groundworks, drainage and landscaping

What it's used for

A dated photo from the same spot every month is hard to argue with.

Teams use the record to brief funders, settle questions about what was done when, and give the sales team launch content months before handover.
